Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do we start?

The design process starts with an interview and an assessment of your grounds. Items that you can accomplish before this meeting include- a family discussion outlining your needs & preferences concerning your pool. Topics you might consider are straight lines or curves, formal or tropical, waterfalls – natural or sheers, play areas. Collect pictures of pool styles that appeal to you. A survey or plot plan of your property is required for permits.

2. Will the style of my home impact the design of my pool?

Sometimes the house and yard dictate the shape but generally your taste is the most important aspect. We are experts at aesthetically blending styles to complement your home.

3. Are all pools created equal?

No. Once all it took to impress your neighbors was a rectangle swimming pool with a deep end and a diving board. Today it’s more about visual effects, efficiency and technology. Attention to detail, experience, and knowledge is a must to build a quality pool today.

4. Are all these pictures really your pools?

Yes. We do not believe in using clip art or other companies work. All pictures featured on this web site are actual projects by Wind River Pools completed in the Houston area. Personal viewing can be arranged upon request.

7. How long will it take to build a pool?

Usually it will take four to six weeks from excavation to completion of the pool. If you have a special timetable, tell us.

8. Can my old pool be renovated to look like these?

Absolutely! We have renovated and remodeled many existing pools for those who want the newest look. Waterfalls and fountains are easily added to most existing pools. Specialty plasters and decking can dramatically enhance the look. With engineering even a spa can be added.

9. What does it cost to heat a pool and how long will it take to heat my pool or spa?

There are many variables in answering this question but normally you can heat a pool on special occasions for less than a tank of gas. If the heater is sized correctly, you should allow for a 1 degree rise per hour on a pool and a 1 degree rise per minute on a spa.

10. How much will a pool cost?

A luxury car can easily cost twice as much as a base pool. Or, a year of pool payments can cost less than what a family of four would spend on a one week vacation. Keep in mind the pool will be there for your enjoyment 365 days a year when the vacation is just a memory. We build pools costing from the mid- $20,000. to over $250,000. It’s hard to pin point an exact price as there are so many possibilities. Our commitment at Wind River Pools is to provide you with a quality waterscape at an affordable price- without compromise.
